SmartTech®, developed by Michael Stapleton Associates (MSA), is a high-speed, two-way video and audio system for remote bomb detection verification. This system paired with a Smiths Heimann HI-SCAN x-ray system supports security screeners with immediate threat analysis and consultation. The MSA bomb technicians, who are on alert 24/7, analyze the x-ray images and provide immediate interpretation and verification in real-time. These technicians have specific training in x-ray interpretation to identify improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and are graduates of the FBI Hazardous Devices School (HDS).
SmartTech and Smiths Heimann’s HI-SCAN 7555i are both Department of Homeland Security (DHS) certified under the Anti-Terror Technology provision of the Safety Act. MSA is the only explosive detection security company in the United States that provides clients liability coverage in the event of a terrorist attack.
